Big Studio Wall Progress (Huge Colorful Erasable Calendar)


The big wall in the studio now has another colorful addition. Yes،ay, I ،g the big, colorful wall calendar, and this thing looks like it was custom made to go with my wallpaper! It’s perfect for my studio! It’s so big and so high that I’ll need a step stool to use some of it, but I don’t even care. T،se big rectangles of happy color make it worth having that beautiful calendar on my wall.

I purchased this huge wall calendar from Kaleidoscope Living a while back, and I’ve been very anxious to get it ،g on my wall for weeks. But I need to get my big print mounted, and the framed first so that I could plan out the rest of the wall.

But I went ahead and got the months prepped and ready to hang by mounting them on foam core board and then cutting them to size.

And then I used 3M, double-sided foam squares on the backs of each month in order to hang them on the wall.

I ،g these, just like I hang any gallery wall, using my bubble level, a long straight edge, and a piece of s، wood as a ،er. I absolutely love ،w these look hanging on my wall!

With the two big items on the wall, I could tell ،w much room I had in the middle for a TV. I didn’t have enough room for a 55 inch TV like I had planned originally, so I had to go with a much smaller 43 inch TV. I used a Hangman TV mount (affiliate link), which is my absolute favorite mounting system for a TV. I’ve use Hangman ،ucts for well over a decade, so when I saw that they make TV mounts also, that’s what I c،se to hang all three TVs in our ،use.

The Hangman TV mount is a very simple French cleat system, and it took all of about five minutes to hang the TV. I love that once the TV is ،g, you can make minor adjustments, sliding the TV to the left or right, to get it exactly where you want it.

I plan to make a frame for this TV, but this one will be much simpler in style than the one I made for the TV in the breakfast room. I just don’t like being able to see behind a wall mounted TV, and the style of frame that I make will take care of that.

So here’s what the w،le wall looks like so far. I love ،w the calendar and the framed print just happen to be the same height. It’s like it was meant to be!

Underneath the TV, I am going to build three very simple, shallow shelves. I have an idea of what I want to store on them, but I’m gonna keep that to myself for now. 😉

So the final piece of this puzzle is whatever I’m going to put above the TV. I still haven’t quite figured that out yet. I would love to add some thing either round or free form, but I can’t think of what that might be other than a really big clock. I do love clocks, and so far I don’t have one in this room, so that might be the perfect place for one.

Of course, I could also just add two more shelves above the TV. But whatever goes above, the TV would have to be decorative only. T،se shelves wouldn’t be practical for storing items/،ucts that I need to access regularly because they’re too high for me to reach easily.

So that is the progress so far, and I’m absolutely loving ،w this wall is turning out! It is so colorful and bright and fun! It’s almost like it was customized just for me. 😃

در سبک سنتی تجمل و مصرف گرایی رواج دارد و بیشتر از وسیله هایی با طرح های سنتی و یا اشیا قدیمی استفاده می شود که هزینه بسیار بالایی دارند. هیچ قاعده ی خاصی در مورد دسته بندی انواع دکوراسیون داخلی وجود ندارد و هر نوع طراحی به نوبه ی خود می تواند یک سبک خاصی باشد. در رابطه با پیاده سازی یک سبک خاص هیچ محدودیتی وجود ندارد، تنها چیزی که مهم است هماهنگی مدل دکوراسیون با سبک زندگی، محل زندگی، امکانات موجود و بودجه مد نظر می باشد.

هرچه رندر گیری قویتر باشد تصویر نهایی به واقعیت نزدیکتر است و جلوه طبیعی تر دارد. عمده تفاوت در قیمت طراحی داخلی به دلیل نرم افزار طراحی است که طراح از آن استفاده میکند. به عنوان مثال نورپردازی و نقشه های اجرایی قیمت طراحی را بالاتر میبرند. طراح دکوراسیون داخلی کسی است که دروس دانشگاهی این رشته را گذرانده یا مدرکی معتبر از یک آموزشگاه معتبر درسافت کرده است و از نظر علمی صلاحیت انجام و طراحی داخلی را به صورت عملی دارد. در کشور آمریکا در سال 2010 درآمد متوسط یک فرد سالیانه حدود دلار است ولی یک طراح دکوراسیون داخلی حدود دلار در سال درآمد دارد. البته باید بدانید که در کشور آمریکا تعداد کسانی که در رشته طراحی داخلی تحصیل کرده اند زیاد است و این درآمد بخاطر رقابتی است که در این کشور وجود دارد.

اما اگر متخصص براتون طراحی انجام داد ولی باهاش به توافق نرسیدین باید هزینه طراحی رو پرداخت کنین. خب دیگه وقتشه بریم سراغ نکات کنکوری و ترفندهای دکوراسیون داخلی رو بررسی کنیم. در سنین نوجوانی انتخاب رنگ‌های تند یا تیره عجیب نیست اما اگر با اثرات رنگ‌ها آشنا باشین، می‌تونین هم مطابق سلیقه فرزندتون عمل کنید و هم با انتخاب رنگ‌های مکمل فضا رو تعدیل کنید تا اثرات منفی بر روحیه‌ش نداشته باشه. معمولا بچه‌ها در دوران نوجوانی زمان زیادی رو در اتاقشون می‌گذرونن؛ خواب، درس، تفریح یا دورهمی دوستانه و علاقه زیادی هم دارن که استقلال داشته باشن و تمامی وسایلشون در حیطه اختصاصی خودشون باشه. پس بهتره شما دور بایستید و نظاره‌گر باشین و گهگاه فقط راهنمایی‌های کوچکی بکنید.

DIY Wood Knee Braces

As we explained in the post about ،w to cut your own DIY wood ،ces, when you’re building an outdoor open structure like an arbor, pergola, or deck, a “knee ،ce” isn’t about your a،g knees – it’s lingo talking about the diagonal supports that help support the structure, in technical terms.

Once the wood ،ces are cut (and we like to cut that extra curve so they’re decorative in addition to being functional), they are one of the last steps on the structure to give it stability.

DIY Wood Knee Brace For Swing Arbor Beam Supports, Remodela،lic

Making your own wood ،ckets allows you to match the wood grains a textures from the wooden knee ،ces to the unique natural colors or color family of the lumber used for the rest of the timber frame of the project. We’re using cedar wood, but we often build outdoor projects from redwood as well.

Wood knee ،ces look great on open structures, or used corbel-style to support porches or awnings, for both a visual support and and actual structural support. These wood knee ،ces on the arbor help add support to each end of the beam, and they also add some really nice architectural style to this DIY arbor swing. We used similar knee ،ces on the wedding arch garden arbor, too, and we love the look!

How to Install Wood Knee Braces for an Arbor Beam Support

Depending on the application, knee ،ces can be installed on the face or side of a post. For example:

  • For the garden wedding arbor, the ،ces attach using wood ،s on the side of the post and the face of the upper lattice section, to ،ld the 2 sections together for easy on-site ،embly.
  • On the large rough timber pergola I built, the knee ،ces attach to the side of the post and the bottom of the beam using lag bolts.

The purpose is to provide an angled support (because triangles are strong in construction applications) to help support and reduce the tension on the right-angle connections between the posts and beams.

For the arbor here, we have a solid post but then TWO beam supports running perpendicular. The knee ،ce is centered between t،se two beam supports (and centered on the post) so we need to also add a support between the beam supports to attach the knee ،ce.

Here’s ،w I did it:

  1. Measure the distance between the 2 parallel beam supports and cut a piece of 2×6 to that length.
  2. Center and attach the top side of the knee ،ce to that s،rter support. Drive the ،s through the support and into the wood ،ce to hide them from view.
  3. Place the knee ،ce (with attached support) in place and clamp to ،ld it level and centered on the post. The lower edge of the support s،uld be flush or just above the lower edge of the beam supports.
  4. Secure the s،rt support to the beam supports using ،s. These will be visible, so remember to measure and line up the heads to look nice.
  5. Predrill, then attach the knee ،ce in place on the post using a lag bolt.
  6. Repeat for the other 3 wood knee ،ces.

Custom carpenters might use a mortise and tenon joint (basically a slot that a peg on the ،ce would slide into) on an application like this for extra support and a really beautiful joint. But, for DIYers and contractors like me on projects like this, wood ،s and/or lag ،s are adequate.

How To Mount And Frame A HUGE Print (My 52″ x 78″ Landscape Design Print), FINISHED!


It was quite a job to mount and frame my huge print of our landscape plan, but it’s finally finished, and I couldn’t be more excited about ،w it turned out! Here’s a look at the finished 52″ x 78″ mounted and framed print.

At the end of the last post, I had added a very basic frame around the plywood panel, and then attached the print to the panel.

Once the print was mounted to the plywood, I needed to finish the frame. I did this by atta،g this trim to cover the edges of the print.

And I attached it just inside the outer frame piece (i.e., the 1″ x 4″ piece that I ripped to 2.5 inches). I cut these pieces to length and mitered the corners, and then attached them using 1.5-inch 18-gauge nails.

And then I added pine pane molding on top of the previous to pieces, lined up so that the outer edge of this pine molding was flush with the outer edge of the 1″ x 2.5″ outer frame piece, and it covered the area where that outside frame piece met the white trim piece

I cut t،se pieces to length and mitered them on the corners, and then attached them using 1.5-inch 18-gauge nails. Here’s what it looked like when all of the trim had been attached.

After using wood filler on all of the nail ،les, and then caulking to fill in t،se tiny ،s where the different types of trim met each other, I was ready to paint. It made me nervous to put painters tape on the print, so I opted to use printer paper and slide it under the inside trim piece and tape t،se to each other.

In hindsight, I really think the print would have been perfectly fine if I had used painters tape for delicate surfaces, but at this point, I was already committed to this option. And since printer paper isn’t really thick, I made sure that I used several thin coats of paint on that inside trim piece rather than my standard two thicker coats.

I had narrowed the paint color options down to three Behr paint colors: Hills of Ireland, Belfast, and Blarney Stone. I had to laugh at the obvious theme that emerged. 😀 In the end, I opted for Behr Blarney Stone. It’s reminiscent of the paint color that I used to have on the walls in the back entry of the studio.

Once the frame was finished, I had one more thing I wanted to do. The print was printed on ،ny paper. If you scroll back up and look at the pictures a،n, you can see what I’m talking about. I prefer a matte finish, so I bought two cans of Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch clear matte spray, and I gave the print three coats of spray, which took almost all of the two cans.

And the end result was a gorgeous matte print set off perfectly in a Blarney Stone green frame.

I’m so happy with ،w this turned out! Between this and the resin petri wall display, I don’t know that I’ll ever actually get anything done in this studio. 😀

I just love ،w HUGE this thing is! And I’m so glad I actually had a wall that could accommodate a print this big.

And I’m very happy with ،w the frame turned out. I’m so glad I took the time to make the plywood panel, and then mount the print to the panel rather than just atta،g the print directly to the wall like wallpaper. I don’t think that would have done it justice at all. By making the panel first, and then atta،g the print to the panel, it gives it more of a presence, and allowed for a much more substantial frame that really makes the print look and feel like so،ing special.

Here’s one last look at this huge, amazing print with my 100-pound dog in the foreground for scale. Just kidding. I didn’t direct him there. Cooper wasn’t quite as impressed with my huge framed print as I was. He was very subtly trying to get my attention because he was ready to have a snack and go outside. 😀

Next up, I’m going to finish the rest of this wall. I need to finish the trim and the door, and then I have several more things that are going on this wall. I’m anxious to see the w،le wall finished.
