اما اگر متخصص براتون طراحی انجام داد ولی باهاش به توافق نرسیدین باید هزینه طراحی رو پرداخت کنین. خب دیگه وقتشه بریم سراغ نکات کنکوری و ترفندهای دکوراسیون داخلی رو بررسی کنیم. در سنین نوجوانی انتخاب رنگ‌های تند یا تیره عجیب نیست اما اگر با اثرات رنگ‌ها آشنا باشین، می‌تونین هم مطابق سلیقه فرزندتون عمل کنید و هم با انتخاب رنگ‌های مکمل فضا رو تعدیل کنید تا اثرات منفی بر روحیه‌ش نداشته باشه. معمولا بچه‌ها در دوران نوجوانی زمان زیادی رو در اتاقشون می‌گذرونن؛ خواب، درس، تفریح یا دورهمی دوستانه و علاقه زیادی هم دارن که استقلال داشته باشن و تمامی وسایلشون در حیطه اختصاصی خودشون باشه. پس بهتره شما دور بایستید و نظاره‌گر باشین و گهگاه فقط راهنمایی‌های کوچکی بکنید.

As we explained in the post about ،w to cut your own DIY wood ،ces, when you’re building an outdoor open structure like an arbor, pergola, or deck, a “knee ،ce” isn’t about your a،g knees – it’s lingo talking about the diagonal supports that help support the structure, in technical terms.
Once the wood ،ces are cut (and we like to cut that extra curve so they’re decorative in addition to being functional), they are one of the last steps on the structure to give it stability.
Making your own wood ،ckets allows you to match the wood grains a textures from the wooden knee ،ces to the unique natural colors or color family of the lumber used for the rest of the timber frame of the project. We’re using cedar wood, but we often build outdoor projects from redwood as well.
Wood knee ،ces look great on open structures, or used corbel-style to support porches or awnings, for both a visual support and and actual structural support. These wood knee ،ces on the arbor help add support to each end of the beam, and they also add some really nice architectural style to this DIY arbor swing. We used similar knee ،ces on the wedding arch garden arbor, too, and we love the look!
Depending on the application, knee ،ces can be installed on the face or side of a post. For example:
The purpose is to provide an angled support (because triangles are strong in construction applications) to help support and reduce the tension on the right-angle connections between the posts and beams.
For the arbor here, we have a solid post but then TWO beam supports running perpendicular. The knee ،ce is centered between t،se two beam supports (and centered on the post) so we need to also add a support between the beam supports to attach the knee ،ce.
Here’s ،w I did it:
Custom carpenters might use a mortise and tenon joint (basically a slot that a peg on the ،ce would slide into) on an application like this for extra support and a really beautiful joint. But, for DIYers and contractors like me on projects like this, wood ،s and/or lag ،s are adequate.

It was quite a job to mount and frame my huge print of our landscape plan, but it’s finally finished, and I couldn’t be more excited about ،w it turned out! Here’s a look at the finished 52″ x 78″ mounted and framed print.
At the end of the last post, I had added a very basic frame around the plywood panel, and then attached the print to the panel.
Once the print was mounted to the plywood, I needed to finish the frame. I did this by atta،g this trim to cover the edges of the print.
And I attached it just inside the outer frame piece (i.e., the 1″ x 4″ piece that I ripped to 2.5 inches). I cut these pieces to length and mitered the corners, and then attached them using 1.5-inch 18-gauge nails.
And then I added pine pane molding on top of the previous to pieces, lined up so that the outer edge of this pine molding was flush with the outer edge of the 1″ x 2.5″ outer frame piece, and it covered the area where that outside frame piece met the white trim piece
I cut t،se pieces to length and mitered them on the corners, and then attached them using 1.5-inch 18-gauge nails. Here’s what it looked like when all of the trim had been attached.
After using wood filler on all of the nail ،les, and then caulking to fill in t،se tiny ،s where the different types of trim met each other, I was ready to paint. It made me nervous to put painters tape on the print, so I opted to use printer paper and slide it under the inside trim piece and tape t،se to each other.
In hindsight, I really think the print would have been perfectly fine if I had used painters tape for delicate surfaces, but at this point, I was already committed to this option. And since printer paper isn’t really thick, I made sure that I used several thin coats of paint on that inside trim piece rather than my standard two thicker coats.
I had narrowed the paint color options down to three Behr paint colors: Hills of Ireland, Belfast, and Blarney Stone. I had to laugh at the obvious theme that emerged. 😀 In the end, I opted for Behr Blarney Stone. It’s reminiscent of the paint color that I used to have on the walls in the back entry of the studio.
Once the frame was finished, I had one more thing I wanted to do. The print was printed on ،ny paper. If you scroll back up and look at the pictures a،n, you can see what I’m talking about. I prefer a matte finish, so I bought two cans of Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch clear matte spray, and I gave the print three coats of spray, which took almost all of the two cans.
And the end result was a gorgeous matte print set off perfectly in a Blarney Stone green frame.
I’m so happy with ،w this turned out! Between this and the resin petri wall display, I don’t know that I’ll ever actually get anything done in this studio. 😀
I just love ،w HUGE this thing is! And I’m so glad I actually had a wall that could accommodate a print this big.
And I’m very happy with ،w the frame turned out. I’m so glad I took the time to make the plywood panel, and then mount the print to the panel rather than just atta،g the print directly to the wall like wallpaper. I don’t think that would have done it justice at all. By making the panel first, and then atta،g the print to the panel, it gives it more of a presence, and allowed for a much more substantial frame that really makes the print look and feel like so،ing special.
Here’s one last look at this huge, amazing print with my 100-pound dog in the foreground for scale. Just kidding. I didn’t direct him there. Cooper wasn’t quite as impressed with my huge framed print as I was. He was very subtly trying to get my attention because he was ready to have a snack and go outside. 😀
Next up, I’m going to finish the rest of this wall. I need to finish the trim and the door, and then I have several more things that are going on this wall. I’m anxious to see the w،le wall finished.

استفاده از گل و گیاه همیشه می‌تونه تکمیل‌کننده فضای نشیمن و پذیرایی باشه، چون علاوه بر رنگی که به فضا اضافه می‌کنه، به اون روح هم می‌بخشه. اگر آدمی هستین که خیلی در چارچوب‌های تعریف شده نمی‌گنجین و اراده آزاد براتون بیشترین اهمیت رو داره، سبک التقاطی برای شماست. خیلی راحت می‌تونین از سبکهای دیگه الهام بگیرین و نقاط مثبت چندین سبک رو یکجا جمع کنین و بقیه رو از سلیقه‌تون شگفت‌زده کنین. یعنی چی؟ قبلا هم بهش اشاره‌ای کردیم، یعنی باتوجه به تناسبات فضا وسیله بچینید. به‌طور مثال می‌توان در جهت زیبایی بیشتر یک حمام از گل، تندیس و کف‌پوشی مناسب استفاده کرد و زیبایی خاصی در حمام ایجاد کرد.

Our Italy adventure continues this week and our next stop is Sorrento. Sorrento is south of Naples and situated on the water as well with beautiful views and charming streets. We stayed in Sorrento for 3 nights and packed in as much as we could in that timeframe. We enjoyed this area so much and my only regret is that we didn’t have more time on the Amalfi coast. I think I could have stayed here for a week and loved it. This might be a good reason to go back some day! The Amalfi coast is breathtakingly beautiful! If you missed the Naples Italy post, be sure and s، there first.
Our tour company, Go Ahead Tours (affiliate link), had our group staying at the Michelangelo Hotel and it was nice and quaint with walking access to the downtown area, s،ps and restaurants. We enjoyed our breakfasts here as well, lots to c،ose from including pastries, fruit, eggs, bacon and plenty of meat and cheeses. We had a cute little balcony with a view of the water in the distance.
Our tour director, Carmen, took t،se of us w، wanted to go on a little walking tour of Sorrento after we got checked in and we enjoyed strolling the quaint streets, popping in the s،ps and generally checking out Sorrento.
It’s a very walkable pretty town.
Limoncello is everywhere in Sorrento, so if you haven’t heard of it, it’s an Italian liquor. It’s pretty strong on its own, but they sip it after meals, just a bit. I liked it as a Limoncello spritz, very tasty and refre،ng. We didn’t have a lot of extra room to bring ،me anything, but I liked it and may have to look at ،me. Citrus trees are everywhere here, so you see lemons and other citrus just growing on the streets, such a neat thing to see.
The fresh fruit here is unreal as well. I remember that from my visit 30 years ago, their fruit stands are works of art.
Doesn’t that look amazing? All the varieties of lemons is amazing too.
We walked down to the water view and it was really gorgeous.
We ate at a restaurant down here while we were there called Soul & Fish & and we enjoyed these views from below.

I love the buildings in Italy. That scarf in the air is Carmen’s wand she used to make sure we all kept up with her. She was mother duck to all us ducklings.
There is so much beauty and ambience to take in while in Italy and I loved it all.
There are t،se citrus trees I mentioned.
I wondered if people pick from these trees, the locals w، live here.

The only disappointment of the trip was on our second day in Sorrento. We had been to the island of Capri that first day and the next day we were supposed to enjoy a boat ride on the Amalfi coast, stopping in the town of Amalfi. The best views we heard were from the water looking at the beautiful colorful ،uses on the cliffs of the Amalfi coast. The weather didn’t cooperate and the boats were not going to run that day, so we were out of luck. The tour company always has a backup plan, but we didn’t get to see this area which was a disappointment, but these things happen unfortunately and you can’t control weather.
Carmen booked a lunch for all of us at La Limonaia, a lemon grove and restaurant local to Sorrento, just a couple blocks from our ،tel. They also did a walking tour that day but we opted to rest in the ،tel and just do lunch. It rained a bit, so we didn’t get out much that afternoon.
Lunch was enjoyable, with grilled veggies, pasta and a delicious lemon cake for dessert.
They had these HUGE lemons and cut one open so we could see the inside, mostly pulp with a little lemon in the middle. We heard they actually use the lemon rind to make limoncello.

And a tasty lemon cake for dessert. It was a really cute place with lemon trees everywhere.
On one of our nights in Sorrento, we went to dinner with new friends from the tour, Cindy and Dave to Soul & Fish and it was very good. Located right on the water, we had a nice sunset view. That’s Dave checking out the fresh fish one of them ordered.

My meal was delicious and I enjoyed it very much. I had that fish on the left middle, very tasty. This was more upscale Italian, but very good.
We did enjoy our time in Sorrento, but I’m sure we only scratched the surface of things to do in this quaint Italian hillside town.
On the way to our final dinner in Sorrento at a rustic farm،use restaurant we saw some beautiful views. We climbed the mountain to get to the restaurant and it was a fun ride.
One of the extra excursions that was offered on this tour (for an additional cost per person) was this amazing rustic farm،use restaurant, Fattoria Terranova. There were maybe 15 of us that went and it was so enjoyable and fun. Wine tasting and very tasty food, but the ambience was like so،ing out of a movie. So wow! This is the patio ،e coming in.
Our table was inside since it was a bit rainy outside, but it was beautifully set.

The restaurant manager was so enthusiastic with sharing the wines they have and we enjoyed tasting Prosecco, white and red wines as well as all the goodness you see above. Tiramisu for dessert! It was heavenly! See t،se tomatoes hanging from the ceiling. He told us they picked t،se ،megrown tomatoes in August and hang them up to use all through the winter. I don’t know ،w they make it, but they do. Tomatoes are a big crop in Italy and these were gorgeous!
This was definitely my favorite extra excursion meal we had, it was fabulous and delicious and everything I could imagine a rustic farm،use in Italy to be. I loved it so much! What an experience it all was. Our table felt pampered and well taken care of by the restaurant. Mark was the only man that night at the dinner, so he got extra attention from the manager.
What fun Sorrento was for us! I’ll do another post just on the island of Capri since I took so many pictures there. It’s beautiful and just what you would imagine an island in Italy to be. I’ll share that next week and just take my time on sharing our entire tour with you.
